AOBTF Challenge Ladder

Overview

Players are put in groups or boxes based on their ability, and players will play a Pro Set,first to 8 games (no-ad scoring, tiebreak at 7-7) per week against a designated opponent. After playing for an 8 to 10 week rotation, the player(s) with the most wins in each group/box moves up and the player(s) with the least wins within each group/box will move down a box. The points are removed and the players start another rotation. The foundation will be using the program set-up by the USPTA to manage and to run the ladder.

How to players sign-up for the ladder?

Currently, this program is an invitation only event. If you want to be considered for participation, please send us an email. If you have received an invitation, please do the following:

  1. Players, please get your parents to go to www.aobtf.org and create an account (Sign-in if you already have an account).
  2. 2) Once you are signed into your account, click on the “Ladder” tab at the top of the page.
  3. Follow the directions listed on the ladder page which includes:
    1. Pay a $15 registration fee on the AOBTF website
    2. Next, register at the USPTA website for the AOBTF ladder.

How do players challenge?

There is a direct link to the ladder once you sign into your AOBTF account and click on the “Ladder” tab at the top of the page along the tool bar. When a player logs in at the USPTA website and goes to the ladder, it will display the word Challenge next to the name of any player who is eligible to challenge. The player clicks on the Challenge link and a Challenge invitation appears. It asks the player to select up to three dates and times that he is available and where he would like to play the match. The challenge is sent and the opponent has three options: accept one of the times; suggest three new times; or cancel the challenge. During this process, each message that is sent initiates an email alert to the email account that each player used to create his or her USPTA Player’s account.

How do players enter scores?

When a challenge has been posted, a scorecard is created for each player. After the match, the winner will enter the score. The opponent will have 48 hours to confirm the scores, and after that, they will be auto confirmed by the database. To post scores, the players go to the Ladder homepage (http://www.usptaplayer.com/challengeladder/eric-huntley/usptaalex-obrien-foundation-winter-junior-singles-ladder ), and there will be an alert button indicating that scores need to be posted. Click on link and enter the scores. Select the winner and submit.

Where do we play our matches?

Both players need to come prepared to the match with a can of balls. Please flip a coin and whoever looses the toss needs to provide the can of balls for that match.

Who provides the ball for the match?

Matches can be played at any site location. This includes all indoor and outdoor courts. All facility rules, prices, etc. will be in place, so please make sure to contact the facility prior to use with any questions you may have or to make a court reservation when applicable.
